This medium is very new to me. This is the next exploration in my work. I decided to almost reverse my process and start with shades and tones of acrylic or old prints to draw detailed portraits on top of. The mix-match of what is underneath forces the eye to try to resolve the two images that may not have inherently matched before I slammed them together. I am still figuring out what this style is. “Experimental” or “ever-changing” seem like great ways to describe it. This style was born one day when I needed to use the extra paint left on my acrylic pallet. I didn’t want to waste it or start another large acrylic painting so I put a few strokes down on paper that I had lying around. After that dried and a few days later, I decided to do a detailed drawing on top with different pencils, pens, markers, etc and BAM this new style and idea was born! I try to refrain from adding MORE acrylic on top of the piece because if I took it too far it would just turn into my regular acrylics on paper instead of its own concept.
