Ink portraits are VERY similar to my watercolors. Ink portraits are just the black and white version of my watercolors. They are composed of translucent layers and tones laid on top of each other until a cohesive image emerges. The beauty of each ink “bloom” and the slow-building of tones and planes on the face is what makes ink and watercolor interesting to look at closely. My ink portraits are the most popularly ordered for memorial portraits and for the most “classic” look that is simultaneously elegant, classic, and expressive. Even without color, an ink portrait is really an exploration of light and shadow.
